The Medical Journal of Australia Insight has just published an article describing the practice of medicine from the eyes of a mature age medical student. Data from the Medical Schools Outcomes Database indicates that just under one fifth of students commencing their medical studies in 2012 were over 25 years of age. Just over half of all medical students commencing in 2012 began their studies after finishing another degree, most likely to be science, medical science and/or allied health.
