A successful 2015 AMA National Conference, Medicare: midlife crisis?, took place at the Hilton Hotel, Brisbane, last Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Notable speakers included the Minister for Health, Sussan Ley and Shadow Minister for Health, Catherine King. There was also a video message from Prime Minister Tony Abbott. Former Prime Minister, the Hon Julia Gillard, addressed the Leadership Development Dinner for medical students and doctors in training.

In the President’s Statement, A/Prof Brian Owler placed a strong emphasis on the role of general practice and once again called on the Government to lift its freeze on MBS indexation.
